HORACE CALDWELL FISHING PIER
Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas is a lighted pier that stretches out 1,280 feet into the Gulf from Mustang Island. This pier is considered as the best spot for fishing and surfing since you can catch different kinds of fish in the bay. Admission is good through 5AM. The pier is accessible for a fee of $3 per person AND $4 per pole. Only cash is accepted. Children under the age of six are free, and discounts are available for active military, military veterans, and seniors 65 and older. They also offer different kinds of baits, tackles and equipments at the Keeper’s Shop. The pier has been closed for some inspections, and it reopened successfully in March 2022 after it was being rehabilitated. The new pier now has an educational component– a project implemented by UT Marin Science Institute. The well-lighted pier is now open to the public.
