INDIAN POINT PIER
The Indian Point Pier in Portland is one of the famous fishing spot in Texas. Since the 1950s, fishing and sightseeing enthusiasts have been drawn to Indian Point Pier. The City of Portland owns the pier, while the Port of Corpus Christi owns the land on which it stands. The Pier operates daily however, due to the damage caused by Hurricane Hanna, the City of Portland has declared that the Indian Point Pier will be closed to the public in July 2020. Following the incident, Portland leaders negotiated a $2 million donation agreement with Zachary Group and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Inc. The pier has been rebuilt and upgraded, thanks to the financial assistance provided by the companies. It transforms an old, dilapidated pier into a new, artistic, yet family-friendly pier. Indian Point Pier is free and is open to the public.
